A Joint History with FreeRTOS

FreeRTOS is one of the most popular open source embedded RTOS’s in the world. Richard Barry created FreeRTOS in 2003 while an employee at WITTENSTEIN High Integrity Systems. We worked closely with Richard to provide a safety critical upgrade from FreeRTOS to our pre-certified RTOS: SAFERTOS^® for safety critical applications. The migration path to our safety critical software is a simple way for FreeRTOS users move to a safety critical RTOS for a smoother route to certification.

In 2017 AWS announced stewardship of FreeRTOS. WHIS continues to be the market leaders when it comes to professional FreeRTOS services.

WHIS continues to support FreeRTOS with professional licensing as part of our strategic business alliance with Amazon Web Services (AWS), as well as continuing to serve our broad customer base in industry sectors such as medical, automotive, industrial and aerospace.
